***PT25 Returns***
July 30, 2006
We are in the process of cutting a small production run of PT25's. These '25's' will have the same head and gimbal assembly that we have developed for the PT Profile, the same blades as the PT Profile, and will also have slightly more downthrust that the original PT25's. Other than that...same as before. Should be ready by the end of August...... (Oh, forgot to mention, we are going to 'electrify' ours)

*** New Kit *** PT Profile *** New Kit ***
June 3, 2006
Here is the latest offering from FlyingBalsa. We have developed a "15" sized quick building profile model designed from the ground up for an electric motor. For those familiar with the PT Gyro and PT 25, this model is in the middle of these, size wise. We have redesigned the head and gimbal assemblies for fewer parts count and much simpler construction. The prototype is using an E-Flite power 15 motor and a 3S 2100 li-poly battery. Your favorite 300 watt motor should work fine. The kit is typical FlyingBalsa, which includes AreoBalsa blades, pre-bent landing gear, extensive hardware, and CNC machining of the kit parts. Best of all, this is a very affordable kit at $89.95 plus shipping. The PT Gyro Team www.flyingbalsa.com

.074 PT Gyro Update
October 25, 2005
We have sold out of the 1/2a .074 size PT Gyro.

This gyro will be updated before the next production run to incorporate some of the design features of the PT25. It will also be very slightly increased in size to accommodate up to a .15 size engine and have some built in features for those wanting electric power.

We have taken the link to the 1/2a version off the website until the "version II" is ready. The videos will remain.

As always, we will continue to support all models and versions with technical advice and parts.

PT25 update and new ordering process
October 25, 2005
The PT25's are in stock and ready for shipment.

We have streamlined the order process by adding a order form link to the menu on the left side of the website and also on the PT25 kit page. This form will provide us with all the information we need to process your order and enter into our customer database. Order forms are processed each evening after 6:00 PM central time.

After your order is processed, you will receive an invoice by email. If you selected the PayPal / credit card option, the invoice will have a PayPal button on it that will take you to PayPal's secure server. You can then pay using your PayPal account or, using a credit card.

If you select the money order option, your emailed invoice will have the payment address to send your payment.

We feel that this new order process will eliminate any shipping delays due to missing information.

PT25 Production Update
April 26, 2005
Hello All,

We are working 7 days a week to get the first production run of PT25's complete and ready to ship.

Kit production is well under way and we are cutting every day after we get home from our "day" jobs.

The instruction manual as well as the reference drawings are approx. 1/3 complete. We still have to make the bending jigs for the main gear and tailwheel.

We are estimating 3 weeks before we can begin shipping. We will announce a firm shipping date in two weeks here in the news section.

We apologize for the delay.
It is a tremendous undertaking for a new release but, I think it will be worth the wait.

PT25 Update and Flight Testing
April 19, 2005
PT25 flight testing is complete.

It has met and exceeded our design goals. The PT25 is big, smooth, stable and easy to fly. This gyro has very aggressive climb rates and speed with an OS .25. Controllability and maneuverability are outstanding and flight controls are well balanced. Kit construction and parts fit has been improved from recent CNC upgrades.

Here are just some of the features:
  • Flyingbalsa Generation II elastomeric Delta 3 direct controlled head with flapping as well as lead / lag hinging.
  • Pylon has been redesigned at the fork area to allow for easier covering. It is now smooth from the pylon cover to the top of the fork.
  • The PT25 allows the use of more mainstream engine and radio gear
  • Bolt together head assembly. No gluing required.
  • Main bearings have been upgraded to 1/8 ID sealed ball bearings. The top bearing is now a flange bearing eliminating the need for a safety washer.
  • Aerobalsa 2 3/8 cord SG6042 main blades.
  • As always, an extensive hardware package.
  • Comprehensive instruction manual and detailed reference drawing.
We have begun CNC machining the first run of kits and were hoping to begin shipping the end of April however this release date could slide into May.

The raw stock has been procured for the first production run and the price has been set at $180 USD plus shipping. This video was shot during controllability, servo load and drain testing. Servo loads and battery drain proved to be low contrary to popular belief. We flew 44 minutes total during 4 flights and the ESV still showed in the green band. This was using a 700 mAh Ni-Cd and 42 oz-in metal gear servos.
